Step by step
4 steps · written by the contributor- 1From the starting point take a right in the canal, heading into the city centre.
- 2The first portage - around the lock at the Navigation Inn. You can get out easily on the left hand side of the canal, and get back in just after the lock.portage
- 3Another portage at the end of the canal stretch. You can get out on the left hand side of the canal, where the boats moor up. Walk up the steep steps, and turn right on the path, past the toilets on your left hand side. Head down to the river on the left hand side of the cement track, looking for an easy bank to put the boat back in the water. When you launch, be sure to get to the middle of the river as fast as possible, as their is a weir just up stream, so you don’t want it to send you into any rocks.portage
- ✓You are next getting out on the left hand side of the river, just after where the canal joins the river. Look for a floating boat moorings. Walk left on the track towards the canal ready to get back in just after the lock.portage
